Support for the NGO Pejes in Benin.

In the region around Ayomi, Dogbo (Benin), girls are still often victims of forced marriage, human trafficking and forced labour, even though these practices have been prohibited by law since 20212. Many girls have no education or vocational skills and find themselves in a subordinate and vulnerable position, which often leads to exploitation.

To address this, a group of Beninese lawyers took the initiative to set up the NGO Pejes to offer vocational training to girls who are victims of such exploitation. The programme began with hairdressing and dressmaking. Upon completing the training, they receive a kit of materials to practise their new trade in their village.
