SELAF, Social Empowerment and Legal Aid Foundation, is a Ugandan organisation working to provide legal and social aid services to people in underprivileged situations. SELAF seeks to promote children’s rights and to prevent child sexual abuse and child marriage through awareness raising and advocacy.
The support covers the following aspects:
Counseling and guidance is given to all beneficiaries to enable them lead a new meaningful and responsible life over and above the misfortunes that befell them.
- Medical support to beneficiaries in need of urgent medical attention, including an HIV and/or a pregnancy test where relevant. Antenatal & postnatal care shall also be prioritised. Sanitary pads are given out to beneficiaries and nutritional food stuffs are given to the very needy.
- Legal support in the form of Court representation and mediation is accorded to the victims to enhance child support and maintenance to victims, but also punishment of perpetrators.
